Ounasjoki Canoe Adventure to Reindeer Farm

Paddle into Lapland’s summer magic on this beginner-friendly canoe adventure along the serene Ounasjoki River – one of Finland’s longest and most beautiful waterways.

We begin our journey in the village of Hossa, where your local guide introduces you to basic paddling techniques and safety. As we glide downstream, you’ll experience the peaceful rhythm of river life, surrounded by forested banks, open skies, and the unspoiled beauty of Arctic nature.

Along the way, your guide shares stories about the region’s history, nature, and everyday life in Lapland.

Our canoeing route leads us to Sammun Tupa, a traditional log-built café and reindeer farm nestled deep in the forest. Here, we’ll enjoy a well-earned break with coffee and a sweet pastry in a warm, rustic setting. While there may not be reindeer currently on-site, your guide will share fascinating tales about local culture and the traditions of reindeer herding – still an important part of life in the North.

This relaxed summer adventure combines gentle paddling, beautiful river scenery, and a taste of Lapland’s culture and hospitality – a perfect experience for curious nature lovers and first-time paddlers alike.

What do I need to bring?

Wind- and waterproof clothing, change of clothes. Please remember to bring insect repellant with you!

We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 14 days or less before the event
We will charge a cancellation fee of 30% if booking is cancelled 30 days or less before the event
